The village of Romanovo is located on the Roksha River, 100 versts from Vladimir and 25 versts from Pereslavl-Zalessky. In 1498, Prince Ivan Yuryevich Patrikeev bequeathed it to his son Ivan, but in 1581, Tsar Ivan the Terrible transferred the village to the Pereslavl Danilov Monastery, which held it until 1764.

In the early 17th century, Romanovo suffered from the Lithuanian invasion, but by the end of the century, it had recovered. According to the census books of 1678, the village included a monastery yard, 31 peasant yards, and 60 yards of landless people with a population of 353 men. A church in Romanovo existed as early as the beginning of the 17th century. The inventory of 1610 mentions that the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross survived the Polish devastation, but the land registry books of 1628 indicate that the Lithuanians burned the church. However, by 1630, the church had been restored and was mentioned in the patriarchal books.

The wooden Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross stood until 1812, when a stone church with a bell tower was built with the funds of the parishioners. The church has two altars: a cold one in honor of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and a warm one in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, icons, and liturgical books. The church documents, including copies of the metric books from 1801 and confession lists from 1827, are kept in order.

According to the staff, there is a priest and a psalmist serving at the church. Their maintenance is provided by income from church land and services, amounting to 440 rubles per year. A public house with necessary buildings has been constructed for the priest. The parish includes only the village of Romanovo, where the clerical records list 248 men and 313 women. Since 1888, a zemstvo public school has been operating in Romanovo.
