Until 1897, the village of Chulkovo was part of the Lipovetsky Pogost parish, which was commonly referred to as "Yegoriy" due to the church located in the Pogost. The exact date of the Pogost's founding is unknown. According to local legend, the church was originally located in the village of Purka and was later moved to its current location. This legend is partially supported by the fact that human bones were often found near the village, and in the past, cemeteries were usually located near churches. However, no written confirmations of this legend have survived.

The first mentions of Lipovetsky Pogost appear in the land books of 1628-1630. They indicate that Lipovetsky Pogost was located on the Oka River, and there was a church dedicated to Saint George the Victorious on its territory. The church had a tent-like top, and its structure and furnishings belonged to laypeople. Three priests, a sacristan, and a prosphora baker served at the church. There were six cells for the poor on church land, which were provided for by the church. On the land belonging to the priests, there were 26 households of landless peasants, and the church land amounted to 40 quarters in the field.

Considering that at that time Lipovetsky Pogost was not located on the banks of the Oka, as indicated in the books of 1628-1630, it can be assumed that the church was moved, although the exact date of this event is unknown. The land books of 1676 state that a new church was built in Lipovetsky Pogost in 1657. Perhaps it was then that it was moved, but this is merely a guess. The same books describe the church of Lipovetsky Pogost: a wooden church dedicated to the Kazan Mother of God with a tent-like top, which housed local icons adorned with silver and gilded crowns.

Information about the composition of the Lipovetsky parish in the second half of the 17th century is contained in the salary books of the Ryazan diocese for 1676. The villages of this parish are also mentioned in the land books of 1628-1630, but it is unclear which specific villages belonged to the Georgievskaya church of Lipovetsky Pogost. The salary books indicate that there was a church of the great martyr George in the village of Lipovitsy, which had the households of priests Lev, Fedor, Vasily, and Ivan, the household of deacon Prokhor, as well as the households of the sacristan and prosphora baker. The parish included 14 households of church landless peasants.
