The village of Zhelezny Borok, where residents of nearby villages used to gather for trade, is mentioned in land surveying and census documents from the first half of the 17th century. At that time, the church was likely wooden. In 1787, parishioners built a stone church at their own expense. The main church was consecrated in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, and the chapels were dedicated to the Epiphany of the Lord and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. At one time, the parish was densely populated. In the 1950s, active construction began in the area, with the New-Yaroslavl oil refinery and soot factory, as well as other enterprises being built. The residents of Zhelezny Borok and nearby villages were relocated to urban housing, the parish became deserted, and soon it was closed. This marked the last closure of a parish in the territory of Yaroslavl.

The church remained neglected for several decades. In 2005, it was transferred to the Yaroslavl diocese and began to be restored with the active support of local enterprises' management. In April 2007, for the first time in many years, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated here, led by Archbishop Kirill of Yaroslavl and Rostov. Currently, the Divine Liturgy is held quarterly.
