In the second half of the 19th century, Russia experienced rapid industrial development, leading to the swift emergence of factory centers. Merchant Bazhanov established a weaving factory on the site of the Sobinova wasteland, around which a workers' settlement soon arose. Its construction was carried out according to a specially developed plan that provided for a combination of production buildings with residential barracks and social institutions.
It is worth noting that the Church of the Resurrection of Christ was architecturally united with the building of the parish school and the complex of buildings that can be referred to as the "social and cultural household" of the weaving factory. During the Soviet era, the church was used for the needs of the city education department and as a school.
