Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Losevo

Фото 1
The warm stone church, built in 1840 and painted ochre, is a rare example of early classicism architecture for rural areas of that time. The building has a symmetrical composition relative to the longitudinal axis, consisting of a two-light square of the temple, a five-sided apse of the same width, a transversely elongated rectangular refectory, and a three-tiered bell tower. The temple is topped with a square drum with cut corners. Rectangular apses of the refectory partially cover the facades of the temple. Above them rise blind cylindrical drums with ornate wrought-iron crosses. The tiers of the bell tower are the same width, but the second and third tiers have strongly rounded corners. The temple, apse, and refectory stand on a single base with a belt of a curb. The facades of the temple are divided by an inter-tier entablature with a smooth frieze and a cornice with small blocks, which runs around the entire perimeter of the building. In the lower part, the square has two openings from the south and north, one of which is the entrance, and in the upper part, three openings. The entrance and the first light window are rectangular and framed with framed casings with ears. The arched windows of the second light are highlighted by wedge-shaped locks. All openings are recessed into niches, which also include overlay boards: rectangular above the lower windows and with a rounded cut above the upper ones. The corners of the square are decorated with rusticated pilasters. The intermediate and crowning cornices consist of several shelves and include a series of small blocks. The wall of the apse is divided by pilasters located between the windows into equal parts. The windows on the diagonal axes are false, in framed casings with ears and wedge-shaped locks, while the horizontal niches under the openings and almost square overlay boards above them create unified vertical divisions. The facades of the refectory with four windows are divided by large niches similar to the apse. The flanks of the facades are highlighted by smooth pilasters and braces with corner rustication. The lower tier of the bell tower with an entrance opening to the west is decorated with ribbon rustication. The second and third tiers have arched openings and wide pilasters. The wooden porch with two brick columns, previously located in front of the western entrance up to the fence line, has been destroyed.
