Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Gorokhovets

According to data from the "Historical and Statistical Description of Churches and Parishes of the Vladimir Diocese" from 1898, the wooden Resurrection Church at this site has been known since 1646. Thirty-two years later, a warm Introduction Church was built next to it. Although the exact date of the current building's construction is unknown, comparative analysis suggests it dates back to the late 17th century. The winter and summer churches were combined, which is noticeable from the eastern side, where two "levels" of apses can be seen, similar to the Trinity-Nikolsky Church of the same monastery. The warm Introduction Church is located in the lower tier of the two-story building, with a light upper section on a massive foundation. A.A. Tits, in his book "In the Outlying Lands of Vladimir," published in 1969, admired this "church fortress": "Approaching the Resurrection Church, the peasants crossed themselves and respectfully gazed at the mighty forms of 'the parish church with two apartments.' Power emanates from its planted columns supporting the gallery of the upper, cold church." Previously, the revered Pechora Icon of the Mother of God was kept here, and the church was famous for its rich utensils, but unfortunately, all of this is now in the past. During the Soviet era, the church lost its 18th-century bell tower and domes, which were restored by the 1990s, with lightning protection crosses installed on them. During the last renovation, the crosses made of black sheet iron were painted yellow instead of being gilded.

In recent years, after the sports hall vacated the building, the condition of the church has deteriorated: the wooden floor has rotted, the green paint on the domes has peeled off, the roof has leaked in places, and a hurricane tore off the cross from the central dome. In 2015, a community of believers formed at the church, and on April 19 of the same year, the first Divine Liturgy was held after a ninety-year hiatus.
