Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Yeltsy

Фото 1
The church in the village of Yeltsy was known as early as the 15th century. According to the records of the Patriarchal Treasury Office from 1654, there was a Church of the Resurrection of Christ with a chapel of the Most Holy Theotokos of Kazan. In 1692, when Patriarch Adrian was in office, the Suzdal Metropolitan Hilarion consecrated a new antimins.

The village has a stone two-story church, the exact time of its construction is unknown. Until the 1830s, there was a wooden bell tower at the church, which was later replaced with a stone bell tower and surrounded by a stone fence thanks to the efforts of the parishioners. The church has two altars: on the upper cold floor, the altar in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, and on the lower warm floor, in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The village of Yeltsy has 105 households, with 283 men and 320 women living there.
