The Resurrection Church, built of stone, is located near the exit from Nizhny Novgorod. From the early 17th century until 1678, it was wooden with a tented roof and situated among trading rows. The church had a refectory with a bell tower, and in the refectory, there were two chapels dedicated to the Mother of God of the Sign and the Moscow miracle workers. There was also a separate warm church of the Three Hierarchs associated with the church.

In 1678, the church burned down, and by the blessing of the patriarch, a new wooden church was built in 1680 at another location. In 1721, it was merged with the Church of Saint George the Great Martyr. This cold wooden church with a tented roof, as well as the warm wooden church of Archangel Michael, known since 1618, were located on the banks of the Volga and often suffered from floods, leading to their destruction. As a result, the parish of the Church of George was joined to the Resurrection Church by the decision of Archbishop Pitirim.

The Resurrection Church, built in 1680, became dilapidated by the 18th century and was renovated in 1741 by the blessing of the Holy Synod. The renovated wooden church stood until 1789, when the Balakhna merchant Ivan Petrovich Latukhin built a stone two-story church in its place. This church has one dome and long walls rounded towards the altar, and it is executed in the style of ancient temples. On the upper floor is the Church of the Resurrection, and below, the warm church of the Mother of God of the Sign. The staff at the church is one. In 1722, there were 65 households in the parish, in 1748 there were 44 households, and now there are 214 men and 248 women living here. A procession from the Ascension Cathedral takes place here on July 28.
