In the difficult 1990s, the residents of Inza, especially veterans of the Great Patriotic War and representatives of the scientific and creative intelligentsia, had the idea to build an Orthodox church in the administrative center of the Inza district. This aspiration of the townspeople was quite understandable, as there had been several large churches in Inza until the 1930s. One of them was located in the city center, while two others were in the Kitovka microdistrict. All of them, like many others across the country, were destroyed by the Bolshevik authorities.

The solemn consecration of the site for the construction of the church and chapel in honor of the holy martyrs took place on September 30, 1994, at 11 a.m., on the day of remembrance of these great martyrs.

Even before the construction began, it was decided to name the church in honor of the holy great martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia, symbolizing hopes for the revival and spiritual turning of Russia, as well as the hope that the built church would become the embodiment of these hopes for the city.

However, despite the efforts of Father Nikolai and the initiative group, the construction of the church in the 1990s proved to be difficult, and the issue remained unresolved for almost four years.

In 2000, after nearly a six-year hiatus, construction resumed. From that time on, work did not stop for a single day, even in winter. Father Nikolai and the main trustees regularly visited the construction site, addressing numerous issues.

On September 30, 2000, on the feast of the holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia, a water blessing service was held at the site of the church-chapel construction. Soon, the residents of Inza were presented with a red brick church.

On January 28, 2002, with the blessing of Archbishop Prokl of Simbirsk and Melekes, Father Nikolai Shitov conducted the first Divine Liturgy in the church of the holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia.
