Church of St. Barbara in Elabuga

Фото 1
In 1887, a temple was established in honor of St. Barbara the Great Martyr in the eastern part of the northern wing of the monastery, and part of the building was allocated for the monastery hospital.

In 1928, the Elabuga City Council decided to close the monastery. The Kazan Church and bell tower were dismantled for bricks, and the remaining premises were repurposed for housing.

In 1993, part of the premises was returned to the diocese. On February 8, 1995, Archbishop Anastasius of Kazan and Tatarstan consecrated the restored church in honor of St. Barbara the Great Martyr.
