The first documentary mentions of the church in the village of Stanki are found in the patriarchal revenue books from 1628, which note the new "Church of the Medushskie Tithes of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos in Yaroslavl." This indicates that the church was rebuilt. According to the scribal books of the Yaroslavl district from 1637-1647, the village of Stanki belonged to various landowners: G.A. Ivanov, chamberlain F.P. Nashchokin, Nizhny Novgorod resident F. Bartenyev, Vladimir resident S. Vladikhin, and Nizhny Novgorod resident I. Plakidin.

The scribal books of 1653 indicate that there were 2 priest's yards, a deacon's yard, a sexton's yard, and 4 landowner's yards, along with 214 peasant yards and 7 cottager's yards near the Assumption Church in the village of Stanki. A petition from the parishioners of Stanki in 1753 shows that at that time there were three churches in Stanki: a wooden church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a tented roof, whose roof and bell tower had deteriorated; a stone church in honor of the Twelve Apostles with an altar in honor of John the Warrior; and an old wooden church of John Chrysostom, where services were not held due to its dilapidation.

The old Assumption church was likely the one built in 1628, and it was repaired in 1753. From 1819 to 1826, the existing stone five-domed temple was built in its place. The church of John Chrysostom, which had greatly deteriorated by 1753, was dismantled, and its materials were used to reconstruct the bell tower.

As for the stone church in honor of the Twelve Apostles, the time of its construction is unknown, but its architectural features suggest it belongs to the last quarter of the 17th century. In 1882, the church was reconstructed: 7 arshins were added from the west, the vaults were renewed, the porch was converted into a refectory, the windows were enlarged, and the dome was replaced.

Thus, there are two stone churches in Stanki. In the Assumption Church, there are three altars: the main one in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and two altars in honor of John Chrysostom and John the Theologian. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. Special attention is drawn to the temple icon of the Assumption of the Mother of God in a silver-gilded vestment, the veil of the Mother of God adorned with pearls, as well as the silk-embroidered icons of the Korsun and Kazan Mother of God in silver-gilded vestments, the ancient icon of the Assumption of the Mother of God from the wooden church, and the icon of the Praise of the Mother of God.

In the warm stone temple, there are two altars: the main one in honor of the Twelve Apostles and an altar in honor of John the Warrior. Among the holy icons, the icons of the Savior, John the Warrior, and the veneration of the chains of the Apostle Peter stand out for their antiquity.
