The rural stone church with one dome and a bell tower, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Nicholas, was founded by parishioners in 1832. Prior to this, there was a wooden church that was destroyed in 1833.

Information about the previous wooden church is contained in the old Followed Psalter, where opposite the Paschalion of 1633 it is recorded: "in this year the church in the village of Sknyatinovo was consecrated for the first time." The Psalter itself, published in 1703, states: "On November 4, 1704, a Psalter was purchased for the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the village of Sknyatinovo of the Rostov district with donated money, during the archimandrite Adrian and priest Ioann Nikitin." A pewter chalice has survived from the ancient church utensils.

For the construction of the stone church, in addition to a donation of 2000 rubles in banknotes from the St. Petersburg merchant Savely Maximovich Korolev, funds from a brick factory established by the parishioners of Sknyatinovo were used.

The church owns 38 desyatins of land, and the parish consists of only one village.

According to legend, two villages previously belonged to Sknyatinovo: Petritsy and Lukinino, which were located in the wasteland of Yamshchina. These villages were destroyed by order of Peter I, and their inhabitants were resettled to the city of Pereyaslavl-Zalessky.

The village holds processions: on July 28, on the day of the Smolensk Mother of God, to the pond at the site of "Mikhaltsevo," established due to livestock deaths; on July 1, on the day of Saints Cosmas and Damian, around the village, established in 1848 due to cholera; on August 8, on the day of the Togs Mother of God, established in 1871 during a cholera outbreak that bypassed the village; on October 12, when the miraculous icon of the Vladimir Mother of God was first received from Rostov. On this day, it began to rain, and the winter crops began to sprout, although there had been no rain before. A procession is also held on the second day of Easter, but the reasons for its establishment are unknown.

Since 1881, a rural school has been opened in the village.
