The village of Karacharovo is located 25 versts from Vladimir. In the patriarchal books from 1628, it is mentioned: "the church of the Assumption of the Most Pure Mother of God and the venerable miracle worker Sergius in the village of Karacharovo, tribute twenty-one altyn five kopecks." In 1699, the church of Sergius was rebuilt and consecrated anew. In 1718, two priests, Alexander and Ivan, deacon Evtikhiy Matveyev, and sexton Leontiy served in both churches.

The current stone church in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as the bell tower and fence, were built in 1837 through the efforts of the parishioners. The church has three altars: in the cold part, in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God, and in the warm chapels, in honor of the Mother of God "Seeking the Lost" and the venerable Sergius of Radonezh.

Copies of the metric books from 1803 and confession lists from 1829 are preserved, and an inventory of church property compiled in 1881 is kept in the church. The church owns a stone chapel in the village of Kurilovo. The church's land holdings include: estate land of 2 dessiatinas 600 square fathoms, arable land of 31 dessiatinas, and haymaking land of 3 dessiatinas. The land ownership plan is kept in the church.

The clergy staff consists of two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists. The annual income of the clergy amounts to up to 1350 rubles and comes from land, interest on capital, and fees for services. The clergy houses are located on church land and are their property. The parish includes the village and 16 villages, with a total of 517 households, 1513 male souls, and 1569 female souls. There is a church parish school operating in the church house next to the temple.
