Trinity Church in Turukhansk

Фото 1
In 1663-1664, a wooden church was built on the site of the Trinity Church. However, due to its small size, it was dismantled, and a wooden church of the Annunciation was erected in its place. Later, this church was also dismantled, and in 1778, the construction of a one-story stone Trinity Church began. This process was divided into two stages: 1778-1790 and 1803-1806. The construction was carried out by a team of Yenisei masters with the participation of the brethren of the Turukhansk monastery and local residents. Many people were involved in the project during its construction.

A distinctive feature of the composition of the Trinity Church is the placement of the sacristy between the narthexes of the cold and warm churches, which caused the bell tower's pillar to be shifted south from the axis of the cold church. The square core of the cold church is adjacent to the altar and refectory, covered with vaults with troughs and formwork.

To the west is a square narthex room with a cross vault. The church part and the refectory of the warm chapel are combined and covered with a vault with troughs and formwork of varying heights. The altar of the chapel is also covered with a vault. The sacristy is illuminated by one window and covered with a vault.

The square base of the cold church is covered with an octagonal vault with a steep rise. In 1882, the roofs of the building were covered with iron and painted green. As a result of repairs in 1900-1901, the domes and spire were painted, and the crosses were covered with gold leaf. Initially, the crosses were gilded in 1858.

By the time construction was completed, the building measured 27.06 m by 16.02 m and had a height of 23.9 m, including the dome and cross. The bell tower reached 31.05 m.

Only the first floor with a wooden ceiling and new roofing has survived. The foundations of rubble stone are laid to a depth of 2.70 m. The walls are made of red brick, 132 cm thick, plastered and whitewashed. There are cracks in the walls, but the decorative elements of the windows have been preserved. The historical window fillings have been lost, leaving only the metal hinges. The floors in the refectory and the Trinity chapel are tiled, while the altar part has wooden floors.

The wooden staircase to the bell tower has not survived. Initially, access was provided by a staircase in the wall, which was illuminated through a square opening on the western facade.

The entrance is located on the western facade through the narthex in the bell tower, where the entrance to the church and the church kiosk are located. The Annunciation and Trinity chapels are connected by a doorway. Each chapel has wooden iconostases.

The church's territory is fenced with a wooden fence. The building lacks sewage and central heating, there is no water supply, and the lighting is electric.

The vault of the sacristy, the bell tower with the spire and cross, the central dome with the cross, and the three-light square base of the cold church have been lost.

In 2008, the design bureau of E.O. Razvalyaev developed a restoration and reconstruction project for the cultural heritage monument "Cathedral Church of the Trinity Monastery" of the 18th century. In 2009, the project took first place at the exhibition "Construction and Architecture" in the "Order of Embodiment" competition.
