The warm church, dedicated to the appearance of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, was built in 1686 on the southern side of the cold church of Nikola Mokry, which was erected six years earlier. Before them, wooden churches stood on the territory of the Spasskaya sloboda in Yaroslavl. The funds for the construction of the new church were provided by the merchants of the Yaroslavl trading hundred, Klim and Semyon Luzin. The architects and builders managed to create a harmonious and beautiful ensemble of two churches. The warm church was built with proportions similar to the cold church, but with some differences. It is small, which makes it easy to heat during the cold season. In 1694, a chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great, Archbishop of Caesarea, was consecrated in the Tikhvin Church. The Tikhvin Church is a low single-domed church without an apse altar projection, with a straight eastern wall. A small decorative dome covered with colored tiles is installed on the square apse, and a two-tiered drum is on the roof. The church also has a long squat refectory and a narthex. In the 1690s, a porch topped with a tent was added to the church. The narthex is richly decorated with multi-colored glazed ceramics, which have been preserved better in the Tikhvin Church than in the neighboring church of Nikola Mokry. Bright tiles cover the walls, creating the impression of a carpet. The tent of the narthex is also covered with glazed tiles. In 1929, during the Soviet era, the church was closed and used as a warehouse. By 1992, the building remained ownerless and was in an emergency state, with a collapsed ceiling. Under the guidance of Andrey Vyacheslavovich Rzhevsky, restorers carried out complex work to straighten the tilted dome. The church was re-consecrated in 2006 after many years of restoration.

Today, the Tikhvin Church is an active Orthodox church of the Nikola-Mokrin parish. It has two altars: the main altar is consecrated in honor of the Mother of God, and the altar of the small altar is in honor of St. Basil of Caesarea. Services are held on Sundays and holidays. The church's particularly revered relics include a sculpture of St. Nil of Stolobensk and a myrrh-streaming icon of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
