In the spring of 1949, an initiative group of seven people was formed with the goal of opening a temple of the Orthodox Church Abroad in the near future. By 1951, the parish already included about 50 families.

Funds began to be raised through voluntary donations from parishioners. By early 1966, the necessary amount for a down payment had been accumulated, and in June of that year, immigrants purchased a building at 23 Henry Street. By the end of spring 1967, the main work was almost completed: eight-pointed Orthodox crosses of Moscow design, made by parishioner L.I. Zhilyin, were installed on the facade of the church, on two domes, and on the large central dome. Inside the church, a new, well-crafted iconostasis appeared.

Today, the majority of the parish consists of the children and grandchildren of Russian refugees and emigrants who arrived here after World War II from camps in Austria and Germany, as well as Orthodox Christians who came later from Western Europe and South America.

The most active charitable organization in the parish is the sisterhood. It organizes charity bazaars, Sunday lunches, and other events, and with the funds raised, it provides assistance to needy Orthodox monasteries, supports the sick, elderly, and poor Russians both abroad and in Russia.
