The great consecration of St. Nicholas Church took place on June 11, 2016, conducted by Archbishop Theognost of Sergiev Posad, the abbot of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra.

The Church of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the Wonderworker, is located in the southern part of the five-tiered tent-shaped bell tower at the eastern gate of the monastery. It was laid simultaneously with the bell tower in 1895, and construction, based on the design by Alexander Afanasyevich Latkov, was completed by 1900. The bell tower and its chapels are executed in the Russian style to complement the architectural ensemble of the cave section of the Gethsemane skete. The southern and northern chapels, harmoniously integrated into the overall appearance, are distinguished by their altar apse and a tent that repeats the shape of the upper tiers of the bell tower. During the years of anti-religious persecution, the condition of the bell tower deteriorated, and it, along with the chapels, fell into disrepair. The brickwork was damaged, and after a hurricane, the bell tower's tent was destroyed. Despite this, the Church of St. Nicholas was one of the first to be restored in the skete in 1991. The great consecration required a complete restoration of the shrine. Thanks to the efforts of caring individuals, the church regained its splendid appearance. In 2011, a wooden carved iconostasis was installed. As part of the architectural work on the bell tower, new brickwork was done on the outside of the chapel, and the tent was covered with new copper. The interior decoration was completed with painting and the installation of stained glass. In this renewed form, the church appeared before the worshippers on this solemn day. The great consecration of the restored church was performed by Archbishop Theognost of Sergiev Posad, with the brotherhood of the skete serving alongside. In his speech, Archbishop Theognost noted that the Holy Scriptures begin with the words about the creation of heaven and earth, where the earth signifies the material world, and heaven, the spiritual. The House of God is a place of meeting between heaven and earth, where the pulse of eternal life is felt. By the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the consecration of the church was performed in memory of St. Nicholas. The Archbishop wished that the Lord would keep everyone in sound mind and a desire for the House of God, for only with hope for eternal life does earthly life acquire special meaning.
