In Uren, Old Believer prayer houses, mainly of the runaway priests' tradition, existed as early as the first half of the 19th century but ceased to exist no later than the 1930s. In 1989, an Old Believer community of the Novozybkov hierarchy was revived in the city. The modern wooden church, characterized by its simple architecture, was built between 1991 and 1995. It is a single-domed square structure with a tent bell tower located above the narthex.
