The village of Venets is located on the Klyazma River, 25 versts from Kovrov and 90 versts from Vladimir. The church of Archangel Michael in Venets is mentioned in the books of the Patriarchal Treasury in 1628, and in 1672 it was transferred to the Suzdal Archbishop. In the 18th century, there was already a church in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the village, and the altar of Archangel Michael became an additional one; the church was wooden, as was the bell tower.

A stone church with a bell tower was built by the efforts of the parishioners between 1820 and 1826, and from 1891 to 1893, a stone fence was erected around it. The church has three altars: in the cold part in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord and in the warm refectory, in honor of Archangel Michael and the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, consecrated in 1858. The church documents have been well preserved: copies of the metric books since 1803, confession lists since 1829, and an inventory of church property compiled in 1872 is kept in the church. The Pokrovskaya Church in the village of Yakimovo also belongs to this church.

The parish staff includes a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance is ensured by income: 8 rubles from land, 400 rubles 60 kopecks from interest capital, and 90 rubles from sacramental services, totaling 500 rubles per year. The priest has his own house, while the psalmist lives in the church watchman's lodge. The parish includes the village and the villages of Krasnaya Griva, Fedyunino, and Kariki, located no more than 8 versts from the church. The parish has 62 households, 248 men, and 231 women. Since 1894, a church-parish school has been operating in the village of Krasnaya Griva, located in a separate building.
