Church of the Transfiguration in Novo

Фото 1
Away from the road between Yaroslavl and Danilov, on the banks of the Roi and Toymiga rivers, lies a once large village, where the remnants of the ancient majestic Church of the Transfiguration can still be seen. This church, built in 1763, had two altars: the Transfiguration of the Lord and the Kazan Mother of God. Its construction was funded by the parishioners, with significant involvement from Prince Golitsyn. The church particularly honored the icon of the Kazan Mother of God, which Prince Golitsyn brought from Kazan. Currently, the outer walls of the refectory and bell tower have been destroyed to their foundations, but the arcature belt of the upper part of the square remains preserved.
