In the village, there is the Spasskaya Church, which has been active since 1670 and has not ceased its work even during the Soviet era. Due to its proximity to Lake Svyato, this place becomes a resort in the summer, which explains the high real estate prices. Currently, it is mainly inhabited by summer residents from Murom, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, and other cities. It is lively here in the summer, while only a few houses remain occupied in the winter.

Local historian Alexander Epanchin talks about the main relics of this place, which, unfortunately, were stolen. In the village of Dedovo in the Navashinsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, there was an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker from 1562, stolen in 1981, and an icon of the Savior Not Made by Hands from 1591, painted in Kazan by Ivan Dementyakov. According to legend, it was located in a male monastery in the village of Rusaki, which sank, and a large lake, Lake Svyato, formed in its place. After that, the icon surfaced and was transferred to the village, but the miraculous image was stolen from the church on the night of November 7-8, 2000.

According to folk legends, since the time of Ivan the Terrible, monks lived in Dedovo and on the shores of Lake Svyato. M.V. Kochkina attributes the first mention of the church in Dedovo to the 16th century and associates its construction with Vasily Yesipovich Kravkov, a military leader who became a monk after the Kazan campaigns. Vasily Kravkov, in monasticism Matfei, was buried in the Spassky Monastery in Murom.

Folk legends about the origin of the church in Dedovo mostly agree with historical data. Local literature and testimonies from the priest and parishioners indicate the sanctity of this place, which could become a pilgrimage site for Orthodox Christians visiting Murom and Diveevo.

In the village of Dedovo, about two kilometers from the lake, there is a church that celebrated its 350th anniversary in September 2003. However, the history of the church is much deeper and more complex, although the current building looks no older than 1700, and the bell tower dates back to 1800.
