The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Korovye, built of stone along with a bell tower, was erected in 1797 through the efforts of parishioners and with the support of benefactors. The fence around the church is also made of stone, and the cemetery is located within this enclosure. The church has four altars: on the upper floor, in honor of the Nativity of the Mother of God, and on the lower floor, in honor of the prophet Elijah, the Venerable Abraham of Gorodets the Miracle Worker, Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker, and Saint John the Baptist. Among the locally venerated relics of the church are the icons of the Kazan Mother of God and Venerable Abraham of Gorodets the Miracle Worker. Previously, there was a monastery called 'Upper Desert' on this site, one of three founded by Venerable Abraham of Chukhloma in the vicinity of Chukhloma in the 14th century. The monastery existed for about four hundred years and was closed in the 40s-50s of the 18th century, while its two wooden churches, the Nativity of the Virgin and Elijah the Prophet, built in the 1730s, became parish churches.
