The stone church in honor of the Archangel Michael was laid on July 13, 1657, and completed on June 28, 1658. Its construction was overseen by Metropolitan Ion and supported by Temkin from Rostov. The church had a refectory and heating stoves, and its dome was covered with German iron. The cross on the dome was made of iron and coated with tin, while the roof of the church and refectory was covered with shingles "in a tooth". There were 13 windows in the church, lined with felt and closed with shutters. The floors in the altar, church, and refectory were covered with seven large felt pieces. On the northern side, between the altar and the refectory, there was a tent with three windows. Under the church were the bread and brotherly dining rooms and three storage tents. From the refectory, there were blind passages to the bell tower, which housed seven bells. One was made and acquired by Archimandrite Ion, another, a large bell weighing 33 poods, was gifted by Anna Ivanovna Karpova on September 19, 1650. The third bell was exchanged for an old one, which was a gift from Princess Maria Zakharievna Lobanova, and in addition, Metropolitan Varlaam gave 20 rubles. The fourth bell was a gift from Karpova, while the origins of the four smaller bells are unknown.

After 105 years, in 1764, the monastery had the following buildings: the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a stone porch on three sides, the Church of the Archangel Gabriel with the abbot's and brother's cells, as well as a porch and two tents for storing monastery items. Below this line of living quarters, there were none, but there was a prayer room. The third church, a warm one, was dedicated to the Archangel Michael, beneath which were the utensils and bread rooms. Between the warm church and the Annunciation church stood a round stone bell tower. The monastery was attached to the archbishop's house and was used for the arrival of archbishops and monks. Half of the monastery was surrounded by a stone fence, while the other half was wooden. Over 105 years, much changed: the wooden Resurrection and Nicholas churches disappeared, while the Georgievsky, the oldest of the monastery churches, was renamed in honor of the Archangel Gabriel in 1752, and later in honor of the Kazan Mother of God. Currently, all the monastery buildings are stone, including the fence. The monastery has three churches: the Annunciation, the main or cathedral, the Michael-Archangel, and the Kazan. All are excellent examples of 17th-century architecture, although their interior decorations are mostly of later origin.

The Church in honor of the Assembly of the Archangel Michael has five domes and is divided by a stone altar barrier and two transverse arches into the altar, the central part, and the refectory. The vaults of the refectory are supported by a single column in the center. The iconostasis in the church is new, made with carvings, columns, and pediments, and covered in gold. The royal gates, without a porch and columns, are carved and gilded. The walls of the temple are partially covered with paintings made in 1831, as indicated in the inscription on the northern wall of the refectory.
