According to the clerical books, in 1862 the Lipetsk parish was opened, and with the funds of the parishioners, a wooden church with two altars was built. The main altar is dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh, and in the warm refectory, to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. In the 1930s, the church was closed by the decision of the local residents. In 1945, the church building burned down. Currently, the Lipensky parish belongs to the city of Navashino. In 2014, the blessing of Bishop Varvara of Vyksa and Pavlovsk was received for the creation and state registration of the local religious organization 'Orthodox Parish of the Church in Honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh the Miracle Worker in Navashino, Nizhny Novgorod Region.' On October 8, 2017, on the day of remembrance of St. Sergius, the abbot of Radonezh, Bishop Varvara of Vyksa and Pavlovsk consecrated the cornerstone for the altar part of the church being built in honor of this saint in the urban district of Navashino, Lipnya district.
