For a long time, the village was called Kruglovo-Sobakino, but then the part of the name "Sobakino" was forgotten and discarded. The first church in the village was wooden and built in 1760, and the second, also wooden, appeared in 1799. In 1859, the village of Kruglovo was located 9 versts from the working settlement of Ardatov, on the right side of the postal tract between the cities of Arzamas and Ardatov. It was situated by the ponds and was part of the second stan of the Ardatov district of the Nizhny Novgorod province. An Orthodox church operated in the village. In the mid-19th century, the owners of Kruglovo were the princes Gagarins. The church burned down in 1952.
