The village of Pankovo, located on the Shcheredary River, has a history of over 300 years. In 1692, the local owner Mikhail Romanovich Voeykov built a wooden church dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in this previously vacant place. In 1709, a chapel in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh was added to it. The wooden church stood until 1831, after which it was replaced by a stone temple that still exists today. It has three altars: the main one dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and two in the warm chapels, of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called and St. Sergius of Radonezh. The parish included the village of Pankovo and the villages of Mitinino, Potapovo, Petukhovo, and Timino, where 364 people lived at the end of the 19th century.

Today, the church is located on the territory of a former pioneer camp, without proper care and attention. It is gradually deteriorating and is subjected to constant acts of vandalism by teenagers.
