Unfortunately, the names of the masters who built the church have not survived. In the "Blagovest" library in Kirov, a description of a unique architectural detail of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Nizhneivkino was found. The corner pilasters of the church have an original design: not only a common pedestal was created for them, but also a capital, which is the work of the Ustyug masters, the Goryntsevs. From 1856 to 1862, the church was rebuilt and expanded, and the parish included 41 villages.

In the 1930s, the church was closed and destroyed. The bells and spire were removed and taken away in an unknown direction, the bell tower was turned into a boiler room, and part of the building was used for the needs of the secular authorities. As a result, services were not held for more than 80 years, and the residents of Nizhneivkino did not hear the ringing of the bells.

During the Soviet era, significant changes were made to the architecture of the church: additional window openings appeared between the first and second floors and the refectory, disrupting the harmony of the structure. The two-story extension over the altar also spoiled the architectural ensemble. The interior space of the church was devastated, housing a water and mud treatment facility, a sports hall of the Kirov hospital, and the bell tower became a boiler room.

Since 1994, the church has been returned to the believers. In the same year, Bishop Hrysanth sent Father Stefan Vovchok to Nizhneivkino to restore the church. Father Stefan, along with parishioners, began the restoration of the church. Over 15 years, the side chapels in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist and St. Modest of Jerusalem were restored, where services are now held and where pilgrims from Kirov come. Seven bells, cast by masters in Bakhta, were purchased with donations from Sergey and Lyudmila Martynov, Leonid Voroztsov, and workers from Nizhneivkino enterprises. On May 27, 2012, Bishop Mark visited the church for the first time and consecrated the new bells and spire with a cross, made from donations, for the restored bell tower.
