The village of Kotluchino is located 35 versts from Vladimir. In the "exchange deed" of Grand Duke Ivan Vasilyevich from 1497, it is mentioned that in the second half of the 15th century, the village belonged to Prince Boris Vasilyevich, the younger brother of Ivan the Terrible. He transferred it to the Moscow Monastery of St. Spas during his lifetime. In the documents of the Patriarchal Treasury Office from 1628, the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in Kotluchino is recorded.

In 1779, a new wooden church was built in Kotluchino on the site of the old one, which had fallen into disrepair. This church stood until 1826-1829, when a stone church was constructed in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist, complete with a stone bell tower. The church and bell tower are surrounded by a stone fence. The church has two altars: one in the cold section in honor of John the Baptist, and the other in the warm chapel in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.
