The rural stone church with one dome and a bell tower was built by Count Vorontsov in 1787. It has two altars: the Nativity of Christ and Saint Nicholas. Before this, there was a wooden church on its site, which was destroyed about 70 years ago.

The church does not contain any miraculous icons, particularly revered relics, ancient church utensils, or manuscripts or old printed books.

Three processions are held in the parish: one was established due to livestock deaths, and the other two were in connection with the cholera epidemic of 1848. The church land covers 38 desyatins. A rural school has been operating in the village of Yakimovsk since 1879.

According to popular legend, there once stood the tower of the Rostov hero Vadim the Fearless, about whom there is a legend. In the 12th century, a boyar named Yakim, the nephew of the thousandth Stepan Kuchka, lived here. In the 15th century, this place belonged to Prince V. F. Bakhtyaro, who bequeathed it to his son, Prince P. V. Bakhtyaro. The estate then passed to his daughter Tatiana, the wife of Prince B. V. Shchepin. From Prince Boris, it went to Prince Vas. Naum. Priimkov, who transferred it to the Rostov Archiepiscopal House.
