In 1858, a two-altar church was built in the village of Mukhtolovo, which was visited by the residents of Mukhtolovo and nearby villages until the 1930s. However, after the well-known events, it stood abandoned for about fifty years, gradually falling into disrepair, until it burned down in 1985. The faithful were forced to travel 12 km to the village of Sakony, where a beautiful stone church was located. But the residents of Mukhtolovo dreamed of their own temple. Eventually, they consecrated an empty store, equipped an altar, and installed a dome with a cross. People who had long kept icons brought them to this small church, which soon became cramped.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Nikolai, Father Alexey Vesnin, a young, energetic, and attentive priest, began to serve in the village. The dream of having their own church began to come true.

On Easter 2000, a site for the construction of a new church on the site of the old one was consecrated. Although not everyone believed in success, many actively took up the task. Father Alexey oversaw the work, managing to conduct services, organize construction, and procure materials. He worked with God's help and the support of people who volunteered to work on the construction of the church. Alongside him at the construction site were the Kutaisov brothers, Ivan and Viktor, Vasily Bukarev, Alexey Nazarov, Alexey Shitikov, Viktor Matveev, and many women from the village. Financial and material assistance was provided by enterprises such as a sewing factory and private firms.

In less than two years, on December 1, 2001, the first service was held in the church. Now it stands on a hill, beautiful and new, bringing joy to all. Father Alexey is especially happy, delighted with every new parishioner. His eyes are full of enthusiasm, and the people around him become kinder and purer. One can only envy his work ethic: almost daily services, weddings, funerals, Sunday school, and celebrations for children. He is either in Nizhny Novgorod acquiring new church items, visiting nearby villages where abandoned churches still stand, rushing to someone's home, or simply conversing with people. In Mukhtolovo, he is lovingly called 'our priest.' A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the construction of the church in our village.
