The architecture of the Nativity Church represents a somewhat naive attempt to combine early classical volumetric-spatial composition with traditional ancient Russian five-domes. The main square structure is adjoined on the eastern side by an developed altar section, and on the western side, a small refectory and a now-lost bell tower. The northern and southern facades feature prominently protruding risalits, which are topped with triangular pediments. The square serves as the base for a light dome rotunda, at the top of which is a light drum with an onion-shaped dome. Four more small domes on long thin necks are located at the edges of the dome. This unusual placement of the five domes on the dome rotunda, atypical for classicism, was likely prompted by a somewhat unsuccessful attempt to imitate the original composition of the Spasskaya Church of the Tolga Monastery from the late 17th to early 18th century.
