The name of the estate Pokrovskoye-Glebovo-Streshnevo reflects the double surname of its long-term owners, Glebovs-Streshnevs, as well as the old name of the village, Pokrovskoye, which is associated with the local church that has survived to this day.

In the late 16th century, there was a village called Pod'yelki, owned by the Tushins, which later passed into the possession of E.I. Blagov. After the Time of Troubles, the owners changed again: in 1629, deacon M.D. Theofilaktov built a stone church of the Intercession of the Mother of God here, with chapels in honor of the Miracle of Archangel Michael and Saint Metropolitan Alexius, and the village began to be called Pokrovskoye. In 1678, the estate passed to the boyar Rodion Streshnev and remained in his family until the revolution. Over time, the surname changed: in the 18th century, when the direct line of the Streshnevs ended, the family began to be called Glebovs-Streshnevs. In the 19th century, the surname became triple, Shakhovskies-Glebovs-Streshnevs.

According to clerical records, the existing church was built in 1750 at a new location, but with the same dedication. There is a version that it was originally an economic building converted into a church. According to another version, in 1750 a major reconstruction of the old church took place, resulting in it acquiring baroque decor, losing its narrow windows and kokoshniks, which were replaced with a four-pitched roof. A three-tiered bell tower with a spire was built at the same time on the west side. The refectory with chapels of Saints Peter and Paul and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker was created in 1886 according to the design of architect G.A. Kaiser, funded by local dacha owner Peter Botkin, a well-known Moscow tea merchant; the first chapel was consecrated in honor of the patron saint of the founder.

After the revolution, a museum called "Noble Estate" was opened in the main house of the Shakhovskies-Glebovs-Streshnevs, dedicated to the life and customs of the aristocracy in Russia in the 18th-19th centuries. In the early 1930s, the museum was closed, many exhibits were lost or sold abroad, and some were transferred to the Historical Museum. Around 1932, the Church of the Intercession was also closed, and the entire territory came under the jurisdiction of the military department.

Later, the main house housed a rest home for military pilots, and the church was occupied by the Research Institute of Civil Aviation with a laboratory. The building lost its crosses and domes, the interior was destroyed, and new rooms appeared inside. The restoration of the church began in 1992, and the following year, the first services were held here after a long break.

Today, the Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God is the only part of the ensemble of the Pokrovskoye-Glebovo-Streshnevo estate accessible for visits. The rest of the territory is fenced off and unused, and the estate buildings are abandoned and deteriorating.
