The refectory church of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary was built in 1691 with funds from Metropolitan Varsanofiy of the Chertkov family, who lived nearby Murom. This unique two-story church is the only one in Murom. The refectory, located on the second floor, features barrel vaults with arches supported by an octagonal pillar shifted to the north. This is reflected in the western facade, which has an asymmetric composition. Despite the loss of architectural details due to renovations, the Intercession Church, along with the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral and the Abbot's Corps, remains an important part of the ensemble of the Spassky Monastery. The church also serves as one of the main utility buildings of the monastery. An inventory by Captain Fyodor Semyavin from 1763 indicates that there were a granary, a kitchen, and three storerooms under the church. The simplicity of the Intercession Church emphasizes the monumentality of the neighboring cathedral. Unlike other buildings in Murom, the octagonal pillar of the refectory is shifted off-axis to the north, and the hall is covered with barrel vaults with arches. The western facade highlights the asymmetry of the plan. In 1757, a new bell tower was built next to the western facade of the Intercession Church to replace the old one at the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral. The date of the construction of the Intercession Church is confirmed on the reverse side of page 8 of the 16th-century Contribution Book of the Spassky Monastery. The book also notes that in 1701, repairs were made to one of the church's domes, for which the carpenters were paid three rubles. In 1757, a bell tower was built, and in 1839, a porch was added to the Preobrazhensky Church. In 1849, the holy gates were constructed, and in 1850, the upper cold church of the Intercession was converted into a warm one. The stone fence of the monastery was built from 1807 to 1810. In 1841, the windows of the Preobrazhensky Cathedral were remodeled.
