After the destruction of the Krasnorechenskoye settlement by the Tatars, these places remained deserted for a long time. Only after 420 years, with the completion of the first phase of the Zakam fortified line, attempts to develop the Trans-Volga region began. Along with Russian settlers, representatives of other nationalities also began to settle here.

It is believed that the village of Krasnaya Reka emerged in the early 1660s. The Mordovian settlements here lived stably, often unaware of the boundaries of their lands. However, with the development of the region, the Krasnorechentsy gained neighbors, and the lands began to be distributed more strictly. In the second quarter of the 18th century, Russian settlers began to move in alongside the already living indigenous people, settling the left bank.

It was on the left bank that a wooden church with an altar dedicated to the Intercession of the Holy Virgin was built in 1773. Interestingly, since then, there were attempts to name the village Pokrovskoye, but this name did not take hold.

In 1795, the village of Krasnaya Reka had 180 households and 1,013 residents. In 1858, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a new wooden church was built on a stone foundation with an iron roof and the same altar.

Before World War I, the village remained prosperous. According to data from that time, 39 households had three or more horses, while only 12 were without horses. The well-being of the Krasnorechentsy is also evidenced by the fact that in 1912, with the funds of the parishioners, the construction of a large stone church was completed, which had been under construction for 18 years. Many residents participated in the construction. The new church with domes made of white tin became the pride of the village, and the old wooden church was dismantled.

According to the memories of Pavel Efimovich Pleshakov, in 1930, the bells were removed from the Krasnorechensk church. The large 150-pud bell, known for its melodic ringing, broke when it fell from the 36-meter bell tower. The bell was removed by local residents: Boyarkin Sergey and Semyonov Alexander. That same year, the church was closed, and the building, constructed with the peasants' money, was initially used as a warehouse and later as a distillery.

On March 22, 1930, the priest of the local church, Yakov Semyonovich Kolchin, was arrested and subsequently executed.
