The settlement was founded in 1768 when the Tula merchant Antipa Maksimovich Mosolov decided to build a copper smelting plant here, which is why it was initially called Buyskoe Plant. The first residents, over three hundred serf craftsmen and workers, were brought by Mosolov.

In 1861, Mosolov's factories were confiscated due to debts and came under state management, and by 1890 they were sold at auction. Buyskoe Plant became an independent village.

In 1810, the owners of the plant appealed to the Vyatka Spiritual Consistory for permission to build a church: "The lieutenant of the Urzhum district and the keeper of the mountain factories Ivan Mosolov of the Buyskoe iron-making plant, the factory office, requests permission to build a new stone church there." The petition indicated that the plant was located 10 versts from the village of Arkhangelskoye Buy, and its residents were deprived of the opportunity to attend church. However, the request was denied due to the lack of necessary letters from Mosolov and the parishioners.

In 1830, Mosolov's heirs submitted another petition for the construction of a stone church. They attached a plan and facade prepared by architect Latochin and reported that they had prepared 150,000 bricks, with another equal amount to be prepared by spring 1831. The parishioners were ready to donate over 5,000 rubles, and the heirs took on all construction costs. On September 20, 1830, the Vyatka Spiritual Consistory granted permission to build a church in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin.

On May 22, 1831, the church was laid and completed in 1834. In 1835, the cold church and bell tower were covered with iron, and by 1839, the warm church was also covered with iron. The church records for 1839 noted that the temple was built through the efforts of Mosolov's heirs and factory workers.

The church was built manually with the help of wooden blocks and tiered elevations. About a thousand people participated in the construction, and stone craftsmen were brought from Kazan. The completed church was named the Church of the Holy Intercession, and from that time on, the village of Buyskoe began to be called Pokrovskoye. The church became a monument of the serfdom period, created by the labor of ancestors under difficult conditions.

In 1867, the church was surrounded by a fence with iron grilles on a brick foundation. The altars in the cold church were dedicated to Saint Nicholas, and in the warm church, to the Intercession of the Holy Virgin and Saint Martyr Olympiada. The cold church housed an iconostasis with 19 icons, while the warm church had two iconostases with 17 icons each. Initially, the church was insufficiently equipped with utensils. A description of church property was conducted since 1856, and metric books and confession lists since 1830. In 1915, the church library contained 79 volumes.
