The Intercession Church in the village of Bolshoy Kuyash, Chelyabinsk region, was built in honor of the victory over Napoleon's army. In 1807, a small Church of the Nativity of Christ was constructed in the village, but due to the large number of parishioners, it could not accommodate everyone, so a more spacious Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built nearby.

The church stands on an artificial hill that the villagers manually piled up. A high stone porch led to it from the west, and a stone bridge with railings spanned a moat. Seven bells called the faithful to service.

During the Soviet era, the church was closed and looted. The communists destroyed the crosses and domes. The building housed a cinema, a club, storage for the collective farm and the state, as well as a grain storage facility. Major destruction occurred in the 1980s when villagers dismantled the roof, floors, windows, and doors for their needs. Only the walls remained, which could not be destroyed even by heavy machinery.

The brick building stands on a rubble foundation. A high plinth surrounds it around the perimeter. The original roof has been almost completely lost. The central axial composition of the building consists of a large volume of the church with a vaulted ceiling, an elongated volume of the narthex with a bell tower, connected to the church through the refectory, and a rectangular apse to the east.

The church's facades are adorned with a stepped cornice. The southern and northern facades are highlighted by a four-column portico with a pediment. The second light of the church is designed as a square with rectangular windows. A collapsed dome on an octagonal neck, pierced by two small windows, crowned the vaulted ceiling of the church. The two-tiered bell tower above the right part of the narthex is shaped like a square.

From 2009 to 2014, restoration work was carried out on the brickwork of the interior, the restoration and recreation of the plaster layer of the ceilings and walls of the church part, bell tower, narthex, and refectory, as well as the plaster layer of the ceilings and walls of the small Church of the Nativity of Christ. Work was done on the installation of floor screeds, restoration of the northern and southern entrances, restoration of the brickwork of the porches, installation of screeds for the porches, and restoration of the bases of the columns of the porticos.
