Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in Alferovka

Фото 1
The village of Alferovka was founded in 1780 by settlers from the Kursk province. According to local legend, it was named after the first residents, the Alferovs. The development of the village was slow, and only in 1903 did the construction of the church begin. Funds for the construction of the temple were collected from all around the area.

The church was built by skilled craftsmen, and it turned out to be magnificent. The four-tiered building was erected without the use of nails. Three domes with crosses were installed on the temple. The architectural style of the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin is eclectic, and it is a log tower church. Pine logs for the construction were delivered from the neighboring Bashkiria.

In 1930, like many other churches, the Alferov church was closed, initially used as a barn, and later it housed a fur storage.

In 1998, the church was included in the regional register of historical and cultural monuments and recognized as a state property. The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in Alferovka is a rare example of wooden architecture in the Orenburg region.
