Near the Yaroslavl-Kostroma road lies the small village of Petrovo, home to an amazing church dedicated to the holy apostles Peter and Paul. Historian and local historian A. Krylov notes that the exact date and author of the church's construction are unknown. According to modern estimates, it was built in the late 17th or early 18th century. The church is adorned with three domes, which, while not unique to domestic architecture, are still rare and indicate its venerable age.

A distinctive feature of the church is that the three domes are aligned on a single axis and are closely grouped together. The facades are decorated with ornate window frames with semicircular tops, and the corners are adorned with clusters of columns. The rectangular apse is not smaller than the church itself. The architectural design reflects the influence of Moscow architecture. The bell tower, added in the late 19th or early 20th century, is executed in the 'Neo-Russian' style. During a recent restoration, the top of the bell tower was altered: the tent became slimmer and taller, better matching the ancient appearance of the church, although the interesting 'cup' dome was replaced with a standard 'onion' dome. The Peter and Paul church continued to operate even during the Soviet era.
