In the late 18th century, the village of Ikryanoe appeared on the banks of the Bakhtemir River. Initially, Count D.A. Zubov settled migrants on Zubovsky Hill, but adapting to the new place was difficult. There were reeds, swamps, and channels around, and there was not enough land for agriculture. In 1801, Ivan Andreevich Varvatsiy, known as Ioannis Andrias Leontidis, bought land from college assessor Skripitsyn and in 1807 relocated the residents to a new site by the Ikryanka River. The village gradually began to develop. In the first years, it consisted of 18 peasant houses built along a wide street, at the end of which stood a wooden church with an iconostasis. Over time, the settlement grew and prospered. In 1841, or according to other sources in 1873, the old wooden church was replaced by a stone church in the name of Saints Peter and Paul. According to the Astrakhan Provincial Statistical Committee, in 1877, Ikryanoe had about 200 households and a population of 594. The village had a zemstvo school, a vocational school, and two factories: a brick factory and a fish oil production plant.

With the onset of the new century, a period of anti-religious sentiment began in 1917. In 1936, the Orthodox Peter and Paul Church was virtually destroyed. Parishioners who attended the church reported that during the destruction, many witnessed the apparition of the Virgin Mary weeping over the church. In 1995, parish life was revived. The village administration allocated the building of a former cinema for the church. This is symbolic, as during the Soviet years, churches were turned into clubs and cinemas, and now the cinema has become a church. It turned out that the land under the cinema was church property. According to eyewitnesses, the destroyed church was located near the current parish. The building is now actively being transformed into a church: a dome with a cross has been installed, internal reconstruction has been carried out, and a temporary iconostasis has been arranged. Parishioners hold the miraculous icon of Saint Matrona of Moscow and the relics of the Diveyevo saints in special reverence. The reconstruction of the church continues.
