One of the most remarkable churches reflecting the fate of Russia in the last century is the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, located in the village of Kamenny Brod, near Rostov-on-Don. The history of this church began in 1780 when Cossacks settled in the Kamenny Brod sloboda. For a long time, they attended the parish in the Grushovskaya stanitsa, but then decided to build their own church. In 1862, with the funds of the parishioners, the first wooden church in the village was laid in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul.

The church was consecrated on April 27, 1864, and soon after, the first cemetery appeared nearby. However, on May 20, 1881, lightning caused a fire, and the church burned down. In 1885, a new church was built in its place, consecrated on November 10 of the same year. In 1905, the building was expanded, and two church schools were opened: one for boys and one for girls. Thus, the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul became not only a spiritual but also a social center for the village of Kamenny Brod.

With the arrival of Soviet power, the church was repeatedly subjected to looting and closures. During Khrushchev's rule, the church building was first turned into a sports hall and then a chemical storage. Later, the building remained empty for a long time, and by the time of perestroika, only the walls of the church remained. In 1990, there were plans to open a club in it, but due to a lack of funds, this did not happen. Until 1997, the building continued to deteriorate, burying hopes for restoration.

The revival of the parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul was long. In 1997, the reconstruction of the church began, but soon the work stopped and resumed only in 2008. On October 17, 2010, the prayer part of the church was opened, and in 2012, bells were installed. In 2013, the main part of the church was restored.

Today, the stone church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul is the center of life in the village of Kamenny Brod and a monument to the centuries-old history of this Cossack settlement. It still needs financial and construction support, but the parish has already become an integral part of the villagers' lives.
