In the center of the eastern wing are the main entrance gates, above which rises the gate church of Peter and Paul. Originally, in 1692, a church was built here in honor of Saint Ephrem the Syrian, but it was later renamed in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul.

In 1770, a major fire occurred in the monastery, which severely damaged the churches, including the gate church of Saint Ephrem the Syrian and the hospital church in honor of the Solovetsky miracle workers Zosima and Savvatiy. After restoration, it was decided to consecrate the gate church in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul, and to arrange an altar in the hospital church dedicated to the venerable Ephrem the Syrian.

On July 12, 2005, on the feast day, the first Divine Liturgy was held in the church of the apostles Peter and Paul, conducted by the monks of the Pechersky Monastery under the guidance of Abbot Tikhon. After the service, there was a procession to the restored grave of Prince Boris Golitsyn, and a requiem was served for the deceased abbots of the monastery.

In August 2009, artists from the workshop 'Tradition' at the Nizhny Novgorod Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky completed the painting of the altar of the gate church in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul, using Byzantine works from the 12th century as samples. The entire church was fully painted by the end of 2012, as the work was done carefully and unhurriedly. On December 14, 2012, Bishop Varna of Vyksa and Pavlovsk conducted the rite of the Great Consecration of the church.
