The project of the church was developed by architect Fyodor Ivanovich Afuxenidi, based on the Andrew's Church created by Bartolomeo Rastrelli in Kyiv. The Panteleimon Church is a brick building of octagonal shape with five domes and a three-tiered bell tower, as well as a basement floor that repeats the octagonal shape of the church.

The history of the church began in 1999, when residents of the Mamayka microdistrict appealed to Archimandrite Innocent (Kishkin), the dean of the churches in the Sochi district, with a request to create a church in honor of the healer Panteleimon. Bishop Filaret of Maykop and Armavir blessed the opening of the church. Thanks to the efforts of Father Innocent, a church community was registered. In May 2000, priest Nikolai Khlynin was appointed the first rector of the parish. The first services were held in a temporary facility provided by the Sanatorium 'Stavropolye', on the territory where the church was planned to be built. Construction began in January 2001, and on February 21, Archbishop Isidor (now Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban) blessed the start of construction.
