According to the census documents of 1862, there were two Orthodox churches in the village of Sukmanovka, one of which was a wooden cemetery church. The stone church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in Sukmanovka in 1856 under Bishop Nikolai, funded by parishioners and benefactors. With the advent of Soviet power, the church was desecrated and destroyed.

In 2002, the villagers decided to erect a new building on the site of the destroyed church. They dismantled the old brick school building and constructed a small church. The church consists of a small square base topped with a high octagonal dome and a cupola on a slender neck. To the east, it has an altar apse, and to the west, a small narthex. The exterior of the building is plastered and painted, and the surrounding area is fenced and landscaped.

Currently, the Nicholas Church is operational, with regular services and other rituals important to many Orthodox believers.
