The village of Veski is located by a pond, 15 versts from the district town and 140 versts from the provincial capital. According to the scribal books of 1628 and 1629, a third of the village belonged to Afanasy Savelievich Shemyakov, while two thirds belonged to his brothers. On their common land, there was then the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

In 1728, the parishioners decided to build a warm church for winter, separate from the Nikolskaya, and appealed to the synodal treasury office. The petition was signed by priest Mikhail Vasilyev, deacon Luka Konstantinov, major I. G. Polivanov, corporal S. Shemyakov, and peasants from the village of Palitsyna, the hamlet of Osinok, the village of Savelieva, and the estate of the council clerk G. F. Derevnin. The new church was built in 1730 and consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. Both wooden churches existed in Veski until 1808.

In 1808, thanks to the efforts of landowner Nikolai Lvovich Batyushkov, a stone temple with a bell tower was built to replace the wooden church, which still exists today. The temple has three altars: in the cold one, in the name of the Holy Trinity, in the warm refectory, in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, icons, and liturgical books. All church documents are preserved: copies of the metric books since 1796 and confession lists since 1829. The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance amounts to 720 rubles a year, including income from land, interest on capital, services and rites, as well as bread collection. The houses of the clergy members are located on church land.

The church has 4 desyatinas of homestead land, which is marked on the general plan of the peasant land, 29 desyatinas of arable land, and 4 desyatinas of haymaking land; a plan and boundary book for this land are available. The parish includes the village and 10 villages, where the clerical records list 440 men and 537 women, all Orthodox. In the village of Veski, there is a zemstvo public school, where 40 students were enrolled in 1893.
