The stone five-domed church in Seltsy, built along with the bell tower, was erected by the parishioners in 1800 and includes three altars: Saint Nicholas, the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, and St. Abraham, the Rostov Miracle Worker.

The church in Seltsy existed even during the time of Ivan the Terrible, who around 1550 transferred this village along with the village of Borisovskaya to the Rostov Andrew Monastery. By the middle of the last century, there were already two churches in Seltsy: one dedicated to Saint Nicholas and the other to the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos. The Nicholas church burned down in 1790, while the Dormition church existed until 1810, after which it was dismantled due to dilapidation, and its materials were used to build a wooden fence around the stone church.

The local church does not have miraculous or particularly venerated icons, nor ancient manuscripts or books. Of the ancient vessels, only one tin ark has survived, but its origin is unknown.

Currently, the Seltsy church owns 41 desyatinas of land and serves a parish from two settlements.

In this parish, processions take place: in the village of Seltsy, on May 21 in memory of the fire of 1850 that destroyed almost the entire village, and on June 23 in memory of the cholera outbreak of 1848; in the village of Borisovskaya, on June 26 in memory of the livestock deaths in 1863 and on July 5 due to the cholera of 1848.

In the 15th century, this settlement belonged to the Rostov prince Vasily Alexandrovich, and his son, Prince Semyon Vasilyevich, transferred it to the Rostov Yakovlev Monastery. Other documents indicate that Seltsy was gifted to the Rostov Bishop Jacob by Prince Andrey Fyodorovich.
