The Nikolo-Polsky pogost is located on the Pole River, 30 versts from the district town and Vladimir. It got its name from the Pole River and the church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Until 1764, the pogost with its parish villages belonged to the patriarch, and then it became a synodal estate. A church existed at this site as early as the beginning of the 17th century, as confirmed by records in the patriarchal salary books from 1628.

In the census books of monastery and church lands for the years 1637-1647, it is mentioned that in the "kromina" of Kameniцka on the Pole River, there was a pogost with the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and a warm church of St. Barbara the Great Martyr. Both churches were wooden, and there were two priest's yards and one peasant yard associated with them. By the mid-17th century, there were two wooden churches in the pogost, and according to the scribal books of 1653-1654, two priests served there, with 123 yards in the parish. The census books also mention two priests and 139 yards.

In 1713, according to the patriarchal salary books, a new church was built on the site of the old Nicholas church in honor of the same saint. By 1731, the warm church had fallen into disrepair, and the parishioners erected a new wooden church, consecrated in 1735.

Between 1818 and 1822, a stone two-story temple was built in place of the two wooden churches, which has survived to this day in a modified form. The temple has four altars: on the upper floor, in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Vladimir icon of the Mother of God, and on the lower floor, in the name of St. Barbara the Great Martyr and in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos. The church is equipped with utensils, a vestment room, holy icons, and liturgical books. An ancient icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with a silver-gilded robe is especially venerated. The church also houses an old printed altar Gospel from 1648.

According to the statute, the church has a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist. Their maintenance is provided by the income from arable and haymaking land, grain collections, and services, amounting to up to 800 rubles a year. The houses of the clergy members are located on church land. The parish includes 16 villages, where the clerical records list 843 men and 949 women. Since 1876, a zemstvo public school has been operating in the pogost.
