The first mention of the village dates back to 1627-1629. At that time, there was already a wooden church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with an altar in honor of the great miracle worker Nicholas. The church was served by priest Nikifor Ivanov, a deacon, and a prosphora baker, and there were also 15 cells where the poor lived, supported by the church. The village of Nikolo-Gora has been known by various names over the years: Korchkodom, Golden Mountain, Nikolsky Pogost. Throughout its 400-year history, it has undergone numerous administrative changes: it was part of the Moscow province, in the 17th century, in the Stuzhen district, then in the Yaroslavl district, was attached to the city of Galich in the Kostroma province along with Lyubim in the Black Stan, and later, in the Lyubim district of the Yaroslavl province. The village also belonged to the Danilovsky district of the Ivanovo Industrial region, the Prechistinsky district, and finally, the Pervomaisky district of the Yaroslavl region.

In 1801, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a stone church was built in the village in honor of St. Nicholas the Bishop. The church was painted by professional artists in the academic style of the 19th century. In 1903, side altars were added to the church with funds from St. Petersburg merchant of the first guild Pyotr Voievodsky in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Peter of Moscow.
