The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is the youngest in the city, consecrated on May 5, 1896. Before that, in the settlement of the Lower Kyshtym factory, known as the "lower factory," there was a small but very beautiful chapel with mosaic ceilings made of colored glass. By the end of the 19th century, Lower Kyshtym had significantly grown: about two and a half thousand people lived here, and the need for a church became obvious. Funds for construction were raised by both the residents of the settlement and the factory owners. When choosing the project, the emphasis was placed on elegance rather than scale.

The stone five-domed single-altar church with a tiered bell tower was built in the neo-Russian style and adorned with unusual crosses that shimmered in all the colors of the rainbow. The secret was that the outlines of the crosses were made of copper, while the center was filled with colored glass. The church was also decorated with magnificent wrought-iron doors and a stone fence with cast-iron pillars and wire grilles. In 1934, the church was closed, the domes were removed, and the bell tower was demolished. After the war, the building housed a workers' club and a children's art school, and due to its excellent acoustics, it was used as a concert hall and a wedding palace. During the years of reforms, the building was left unattended, and only in 2004 was it decided to restore the church to its original appearance.

The reconstruction of the church was approached seriously, attracting specialists from Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk to recreate the historical details as accurately as possible, although modern materials and old ones did not always combine well. Nevertheless, thanks to historical and archaeological research, the domes, facades, and interiors were restored. The elegant cast-iron decor of the stair railings, canopies, fence, and gates was also restored, and the domes were covered with natural gold leaf.

There were difficulties with the bell tower, and a practically new project had to be developed for it. Seven bells were cast, including a 700-kilogram Great Bell with an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. When the work was completed, it turned out that there was no bell ringer among the parishioners, and they had to learn from their neighbors at the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit. The consecration of the renovated Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker took place on Easter, April 23, 2006.
