The village of Chernyanoye was founded no later than 1740 and got its name from the word "chern", meaning black forest. In 1782, an Orthodox parish was established here. In 1884, a new wooden church was built in the village in honor of St. Nicholas, with chapels dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostle John the Theologian, funded by the parishioners. A church school operated at the church. During the Soviet period, the temple was desecrated and destroyed, and a school was built in its place.

In 1997, the village administration transferred the building of a community center, constructed in 1968, for the needs of the church. In 1998, the building was renovated: an altar apse, refectory, narthex, and boiler room were added, and a dome was placed over the main volume on a faceted decorative drum. Since 1998, St. Nicholas Church has been active again, with regular services held.
