The village of Zherebyatnikovo, located in the Mainsky District of the Ulyanovsk Region, was founded by a resident of the Simbirsk Province, A.E. Zherebyatnikov. He originally lived in the Nizhny Novgorod Province and was one of the large landowners. After Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich granted him the village of Maina, Zherebyatnikov moved to the Simbirsk Province.

The first church in the village was built in 1797 by I.I. Nagatkin. However, in 1880, due to its dilapidated condition, the building was dismantled and a new Church of Nicholas the Wonderworker with a chapel of the Protection of the Mother of God was constructed.

In 1871, a primary public school opened in the village. By 1903, Zherebyatnikovo had 88 households that owned 604 desyatinas of land. Due to a lack of land, the local residents lived in poverty and were engaged solely in agriculture.

Interestingly, the church in Zherebyatnikovo was built by the master Grigory Plastov, who also constructed the Church of the Epiphany in the village of Prislonikha in the Karsunsky District of the Ulyanovsk Region.

During the Soviet era, the church building was used as a collective farm warehouse. Unfortunately, it has not survived to this day.
